Biography of Kristen Emmett

Kristen Emmett 2020Kristen Emmett joined the Threat Center's Asheville group as an ORISE (Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education) Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2020. Her research interests include biogeography, landscape ecology, ecosystem modeling, fire ecology, and citizen science. Kristen's Threat Center research investigates forest dynamics in relation to forest management activities, land use patterns and change, climate variability, and multiple forms of disturbance across the Southern Region. Kristen holds a PhD in Ecology & Environmental Science from Montana State University and a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Oregon. Her previous research includes modeling fire, climate, and vegetation interactions in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to predict potential impacts of regional climate change.
