During the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations Landscape Ecology Working Group conference, Eastern Threat Center research ecologist Kurt Riitters visited Chile's Nahuelbuta (big tiger) National Park comprising a remnant old-growth forest of Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle tree). Roughly translated, the sign says, "Ancient Araucaria, approximate age 2000 years. Behave yourself; do not damage the trees, no littering."
