Biography of Carlos Topete Pozas

Carlos TopeteCarlos joined the Threat Center's Asheville group as an ORISE (Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education) Postdoctoral Research Fellow in late 2021. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Postdoc from The Department of Geography & Urban Studies at Temple University, Philadelphia, 2018-2020. CarlosĀ“s Threat Center research focuses on hurricane long-term effects along an urban-to-natural forest gradient across the Coastal Plain of the Eastern US. He previously worked at an office of urban resilience in Mexico applying research and nature based solutions for sustainable and resilient urban planning in coastal cities in Mexico. His research interest lies in multidisciplinary fields and methods, including urban sustainability, SES resilience, land cover change, landscape ecology, urban planning, natured based solutions, remote sensing, GIS, and climate change.
