Center Scientist and “Changbai Scholar” Honored for International Collaboration

Qin_Guo_Academic_Excellence_Award.jpgIn 2015, Northeast Normal University (China) named Eastern Threat Center research ecologist Qinfeng Guo a “Changbai Scholar”—an honor based on research achievements of individuals both internal and external to the school. The university recently took this honor a step further when Guo received the “Award for Excellence in Academic Activities” in September. The award recognizes Guo’s role in a long-term international collaboration on experimental research in grassland ecosystems, plant-animal interactions in particular. This collaboration involving several university ecologists and students has resulted in papers published in the journals Agriculture, Ecosystems and Environment and Notulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca. Two more papers are slated for publication in Ecology and Nature Scientific Reports. “The award is a great honor for me, and it may lead to productive international collaborations in ecological research and education in the future,” says Guo. In addition to this research, Guo also serves on the dissertation committee for a PhD student at the university.
