International Water Journal Taps Forest Service Scientist for Editorial Expertise

RALEIGH, NC (March 25, 2009)—Dr. Ge Sun, research hydrologist with the U.S. Forest Service, was recently appointed associate editor for forest hydrology by the Journal of the American Water Resources Association (JAWRA). Sun joins an international team of associate editors representing government, private industry, and academia lending expertise in specialties such as aquatic ecology, water policy and planning, and water quality research.
“This is an exciting opportunity,” says Sun, who conducts research with the Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center’s Southern Global Change Program in Raleigh, NC. “I look forward to working with JAWRA’s editorial team and focusing on the importance of forest water resources as a global issue.”
Sun was one of three JAWRA international guest associate editors who blended a collection of 11 papers featuring forest hydrology research in China for an October 2008 special edition. Regarding Sun’s selection, JAWRA editor Kenneth J. Lanfear notes that “I am very impressed with his energy and the quality of his work on this well-received collection….We look forward to Ge bringing an international flavor to this exciting topic.”
JAWRA is a major international journal dedicated to publishing original papers characterized by their broad approach to water resources issues. The journal is published bi-monthly on behalf of the American Water Resources Association.
